This is a series of paintings which hangs on my earthquake destroyed house's TV room. The medium is poster colour on canvas. It is about a journey, a discovery. They illustrates the story of the little girl in red.
My first semester of BA journey in LASALLE. It is inspired by the current social condition, especially those that I can personally experience. In today's world, less and less people would want to talk to stranger, or even smiling randomly to random people. We threat people we do not know as a COMPLETE STRANGER. Especially in the train, nobody is speaking to others. It seems like they are in their own world while others are nothing but extras who happens to be at the same place and at the same time. But ironically, people follow the signs and all the regulation around without questions. Either it is because of the fear of the consequences or the realization of each individual to be more arranged. But ultimately, it appears as if the signs are controlling people. This animation tells a story of a boring society in a boring environment. Every buildings are the same, every corner have signs to direct people to do things, every single day the activities are repeating simultaneously.
After all those hectic days, when the weather is sunny, there came rain again.... The factory is open again.... producing not only posters, as well as real T-shirt, posters, and name card.... And is under construction at the moment for the next production.
These are the T-shirt that I designed for the characters. Each of them tell different story. Stripe pattern is a male while the polka dot pattern is a female. Each of them tells different story. The first line is about the female is trying to kiss the male while the male is trying to dodge the kiss for the front part of the t-shirt, while the back side of the t-shirt is about the female punching the male because he does not want to be kissed.
The second line is 2 different t-shirt. One is the male who construct the duck but he forgot to put on the screw and the duck is almost broken down. While the second one is the female who has done constructing her duck based on the instruction.
The third line is front and back t-shirt. Where at front, the male is eating a lot of food and is HUGE, while the female is remain small and only eating a bowl of noodle.
The last one is also front and back, where the male is trying to give flower to the female, but she rudely reject it and in front, the male is under spot light and feeling down.
This video is designated for the BA show that is still happening until 7th of June '09 in Lasalle. It is a compilation of the preproduction steps that was done before EGGs. I love making this video. It is very much fun and very free, without direction and wild...

This animation talks about gender. The characters, POMO, are basically genderless. But they are different in colours and patterns. They are just marching endlessly in a bare-land until the ladybirds come and shift them into a nursery-like environment. There, they will be placed based on their colours and pattern to suit the environment. The second part of the animation is going to talk about the irony between the gender stereotypes. As the environment that they were put before, the POMO are assigned to specific gender. It is globally known that male gender is always related to blue colours while the female is pink. Stereotype noted down that female is very systematic while male do things based on their intuition. Ironically, female is not suppose to be good in construction and the male is suppose to excel in construction. Both are being put in a situation where they are given a set of ducky construction kit. When the female is doing it slower, and reading the instruction carefully, the male is using his intuition and making it as fast as he can. As the result, the male and female both are done with their ducks but the female did it better than the male by being systematic.
